Introduction to Math

Objective Sheet

Throughout the rest of the year, the students will continue to apply the scientific method and practice lab safety during lab activities.

As a result of lab activities, classwork, and homework, students will be able to:

2 - define density through its mathematical relationship and identify substances based on their density.

3 - construct and use tables and graphs to interpret data sets. Determine the relationship represented in the graph.

4 - measure with accuracy and precision. Distinguish between accuracy and precision in measurements.

5 - use appropriate metric/ SI units of measurement for mass, length, and time.

6 - use the metric prefixes kilo-, deci-, centi-, and milli- to convert metric units.

7 - apply the rules for: determining significant figures, making calculations with significant figures, and rounding all numbers reported in Chemistry class.

8 - solve simple algebraic expressions, using ratios, proportions, and factor-label.

9 - express numbers using scientific notation using the rules that apply.
